Well, after my first week back at work, I am exhausted. That extra time spent commuting feels like such a waste, but at least I got off my ass and got my car cleaned and back in pretty good shape. Who wants to drive around in a dirty car! Because the firm actually grew so much during COVID and the year before, they don't have anywhere to put me and the other girl that started on the same day that I did. All the desks in the conflicts and intake rooms have been filled and trying to socially distance cubicles is not an easy task. So, they put us in these offices that are in the middle of nowhere and next to no one. I do not know where they are going to put us permanently and they have interviewed for another analyst position. I REALLY don't know where they'd put three new people. I am fine staying in my office in the middle of nowhere, I just wish that they would divide the office and put Shannon in there with me. At least we'd have someone we like to talk to. That was one of the things I disliked about being in private practice; I spent a lot of time in an office alone.

I think I saw five people all week and two of those encounters were seeing my manager just because he is a social butterfly. It is interesting to me that the rationale for wanting us to return to the office was so that we could socialize, yet I socialize more at home alone. It really makes very little sense which is what happens when you let a bunch of lawyers make decisions (and I should know since I am a lawyer). Someone sent me a video of Justin Bieber's song, Lonely (which is a super sad song if you actually listen to it). I could definitely relate. LOL. Here I was thinking I was an introvert. Apparently, I am more extroverted than I think. Although, I would be adequately placated if I could have a cat in there. A dog just wouldn't work in a big office building in the middle of downtown unless she/he would potty in a litter pan... but I digress.

Now, today I am working overtime from home because... shock! Our productivity is better at home than in the office where everything is miles away. At home, I can pee, get a new cup of coffee, and be back at my desk in 5-7 minutes. At the office, that process would take at least 15 minutes. Not to mention, if on the off chance I saw someone I know, a socially distanced conversation would ensue.

I found out that there is a practicing position available at the firm and I have been asked to put in my resume. I am so torn. It would be a nice, big pay increase, but it would be practicing again. Yuck. Fortunately, the job is transactional and I wouldn't have to see the inside of a courtroom. But, I would have to talk to other lawyers, which is something I definitely do not miss. Oh well, I guess I will decide this weekend and update my resume.

Nothing much else is new here. How are you?

There are two words, just two little words that you need to constantly need to repeat to yourself, either inside your head or out loud.

Two little words, that inspire millions and millions. Two little words that cause shock and awe.

Those two little words are:

DENNY CRANE!

My girlfriend and I have been practicing social distancing since the start of the pandemic.
She calls it a restraining order for some weird reason. Lmao! Joking!

Hmm, Grey. That is good to know for potential future reference. Good thing I know a lot of judges. Lol.
